How ThaiCards schedules your reviews
ThaiCards is a flashcard app built on spaced repetition. Here is what that means, with the real numbers from the scheduler the app runs, and what it cannot do for you.
The idea
You forget a new word quickly, then more slowly each time you successfully recall it. Spaced repetition uses that. Instead of rereading a list, you review each word just before you would forget it, and each successful recall lets the next review wait longer. You spend your time on the words you are about to lose, not the ones you already know.
What ThaiCards uses: FSRS
ThaiCards schedules reviews with FSRS-6, the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler. It is open source, built from real flashcard review data, and the same scheduler Anki offers. For each card it keeps two numbers: how stable the memory is and how hard the card is for you. From those it predicts when your chance of remembering will drop to 90%, and schedules the review for then.
What that looks like for one word
Take ขอบคุณ, "thank you". While a card is new it comes back in the same session: after 10 minutes if you got it, after 1 minute if you did not. If you answer Know it every time it comes back, these are the gaps the app sets:

Five successful reviews take a word out past about 5 months. The real gaps vary slightly so that words learned together do not all come due on the same morning.
Your four answers
- Don't know (swipe left or down): the card comes back in 10 minutes and its memory is marked less stable.
- Hard: you got it, slowly. The next gap grows less.
- Know it (swipe right or up): the normal answer. The gap grows as in the table.
- Easy: you knew it instantly. On a brand new card that skips straight to 8 days.
Answer honestly. Pressing Know it on a word you guessed only moves it out of reach before it is learned.
What it will not do
No schedule remembers for you. Spaced repetition makes ten minutes a day go further; it does not replace speaking and listening. ThaiCards pairs the reviews with audio, tones and Situations phrases for that reason. If you miss a few days, the overdue cards wait for you, and the scheduler takes the longer gap into account.
